|Application Type: Heritage Feasibility Leading to Planning Approval and Listed Building Consent
|Development Description: Major refurbishment of a grade II* listed building
|Local Planning Authority: Camden London Borough Council
Fuller Long are delighted to have been part of the team who successfully achieved planning and listed building consent for an application to alter the internal layout of a Grade II* listed property in the London Borough of Camden.
Our experienced heritage team were instructed to undertake a feasibility study of the proposed works in order to determine the likelihood of success at both the planning application stage and the likelihood of winning at appeal. Our consultants completed extensive research into the history of the built form and surrounding area, followed by a site visit, which informed an in-depth assessment of the proposed scheme, presented to the development team as a conclusive heritage feasibility report. The report outlined each aspect of the proposal and discussed how to achieve permission. Engaging professional Heritage Consultants before making contact with the Local Planning Authority or Historic England offers the best chance of success.
Providing a clear strategy to achieve the proposed development, we gave our client the confidence to submit a full planning and listed building consent application which Fuller Long created and managed through to a positive decision.
Our team provided both a planning statement and heritage impact assessment to support the application, using the planning portal to submit the scheme. Following a period of negotiation with the Council, we managed to prove to the Officers that the proposed scheme was acceptable in both planning and historical terms; conforming with Policy D2 of the Camden Local Plan 2017 and the London Plan 2016 and the National Planning Policy Framework 2019, allowing our client to proceed with the works unhindered.
If you are looking to change the use, alter internally, extend or redevelop a listed building or a building within a conservation area but are unsure of your scheme’s potential to achieve planning permission, Fuller Long can help.
