Application Type: Listed Building Consent & Planning Permission
Development Description: New Residential Dwelling
Local Planning Authority: Oxford City Council

Fuller Long is delighted to have won a planning appeal for a new house in Oxford City Centre.

The house forms part of the conversion, amalgamation and upgrade of a Grade II listed building in central Oxford. It sits within a sensitive heritage context being surrounded by listed buildings (including Grade II* buildings) and also falling within a Conservation Area. The site has an extensive planning history and has recently undergone significant repair and refurbishment.

The house provides our client with a family-sized property in central Oxford in a unique listed building.  The Planning Inspector considered the proposal to make optimum and efficient use of a city centre site in terms of layout and density. The appeal decision concluded that the house was considered to be a ‘high-density development’ contrary to the Council’s claim that it would result in inefficient use of the site and have a negative effect on the local housing need.
