Kevin H. Jones, PGDip Town Planning MRTPI, Consultant

Fuller Long are delighted to welcome Kevin Jones to our co-operative of property professionals. Kevin is a Chartered Town Planner with a wealth of experience in the planning processes of Development Control and Development Management, in both England and Wales.

With a planning career spanning over 28 years, Kevin has spent substantial time working for different Local Planning Authorities where his skills and abilities saw him rise to planning management level with former roles including Development Control Manager for a Midlands New Town Local Authority and then Head of Service and part of the corporate management team for a National Park Authority in Wales. From his career beginnings with Wolverhampton City Council, Kevin’s planning experience stretches across that of planning in a busy city centre and the regeneration of industrial areas, planning in a new town environment undergoing major redevelopment of the retail centre and major residential schemes, through to managing Development Control Service in the highly protected landscape of a National Park. Throughout his career, Kevin has worked on a wide variety of application types from prior approvals, consent to display advertisements, and simple residential extensions through to changes of use, mixed use schemes and large retail, residential and industrial development applications.

In 2014, Kevin made the move into the Private Sector, successfully bringing his wealth of experience to help clients on both small and large scale development proposals, through the complex planning process to gain consents for their development projects.

Kevin continues to play a part in the development of the Welsh planning system in responding to consultations from Welsh Government on proposed new planning regulations and to consultations from Local Authorities in South Wales on Local Development Plan policies and Supplementary Planning Guidance.

Within his career, Kevin has amassed high level of knowledge and understanding of Local Government, negotiation skills and appreciation of urban design and sustainability issues. He has experience of negotiating planning obligations (Section 106 agreements), taking part in Planning Committee public speaking processes, promoting development through the pre-application planning process or acting on behalf of clients to resist development proposals.

Kevin has experience in planning enforcement matters and has worked on numerous planning appeals by Written Representations, Hearing and Public Inquiry. He has experience of the Planning Application Validation Appeals system in Wales and of Local Authority and Local Government Ombudsman complaints processes in helping clients seek redress where there have been failings in the planning process.

Kevin’s knowledge and experience of the planning process and the way planning decisions are taken will bring a strategic advantage to any client having to engage with the planning system.  He is perfectly placed to bring this experience to help with a variety of projects in Wales and England covering the border areas along with Bristol, Birmingham and the West Midlands.

We pride ourselves on providing our clients with highest quality of advice and so are excited that Kevin has joined our team of property professionals.
